WINE CERTIFICATION CLASSES
WSET® courses are geared toward the objective, comprehensive study of wine devoid of promotional interest. Our aim is to uphold the highest acedemic standards of wine study under the guidance of the International Wine Center (IWC) in New York. The IWC is the U.S. headquarters of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust® (WSET®) in London. The WSET® trains members of the wine & spirits trade in the UK; it's highest accreditation, Diploma is the traditional qualification necessary for those who wish to become Master of Wine candidates.
WSET® courses afford individuals a chance to earn internationally respected wine credentials, as well as an opportunity to study wine at a serious and challenging level. Courses are suitable for individuals employed in all segments of the wine & hospitality industry, as well as consumers. Additionally a home study program allows candidates unable to attend the classes to pursue WSET® courses.
THE INTERMEDIATE CERTIFICATE QUALIFICATION
The WSET® Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines, Spirits & other Alcoholic Beverages
Entry Requirements/Description:
No previous wine knowledge is required. Geared to students with a serious interest in wine, and those who wish to broaden their knowledge. Tasting is an integral part of every class.
Qualification objective:
Provide training in alcoholic beverages to prepare individuals for the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retail and wholesale industries.
It is aimed at:
· Employees of the drinks & hospitality industries with limited previous knowledge of alcoholic beverages.
· Wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of wines & spirits.
How to gain the qualification:
You must successfully complete a multiple-choice paper of 50 questions.
THE ADVANCED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
The WSET® Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines, Spirits & other Alcoholic Beverages.
Entry Requirements/Description
For those who have a good foundation of wine knowledge. Wines and Spirits of the world are covered in considerable depth, with an increased focus on tasting technique and on the application of knowledge gained.Candidates are strongly advised to hold the WSET® Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines, Spirits and other Alcoholic Beverages before study for the WSET® Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits. A pre-requisite for the Diploma course.
Qualification objective:
Provide core knowledge of the wide range of wines and spirits around the world to equip those in a supervisory capacity with the authority and confidence to make informed decisions in a wide variety of trade situations.
It is aimed at:
· People employed in the drinks and hospitality industries in a supervisory capacity, needing core information to advise management and customers with authority and make informed selections of wine and spirits.
· Wine connoisseurs who wish to learn about wines and spirits in a rigorous and structured manner.
How to gain the qualification:
You must successfully complete an examination consisting of 60 multiple-choice questions, four short answer questions and a blind tasting of one wine.
